Committee defines criteria for distribution of resources from Pix released by the RS government

The Government of Rio Grande do Sul released on Saturday night (11) four criteria for distributing the amounts collected by Pix “SOS Rio Grande do Sul”.

The criteria for serving the population directly affected by heavy rains and floods with Pix values are for people:

  • Homeless or displaced as a result of the climate event or, even, who have become homeless or homeless, but have already returned to their homes;
  • Registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs (CadÚnico) or in the National Family Farming Registry (CAF);
  • That are not covered by the Volta por Cima program, of the RS government, created by Decree 57,607, of May 9, 2024;
  • Income of up to three minimum wages.

Furthermore, the state government note confirmed the purchase of 30 thousand blankets for the value of R$660 thousand, an average of R$22 per blanket, via a supplier in the city of Três Lagoas (MS) whose name was not disclosed. The blankets are expected to arrive in Porto Alegre (RS) between Monday (13) and Tuesday (14).

It was also defined by the Committee that manages the amounts donated by Pix that each family covered will receive R$2,000. According to the content published by the state government, a deposit of another amount may be made if there is a balance at the end of the donations.

Another highlighted point is that the distribution criteria will start with the most affected areas and which are already able to begin the recovery and reconstruction processes. This assessment will be carried out by the Department of Economics and Statistics (DEE), which is linked to the Secretariat of Planning, Governance and Management (SPGG) of Rio Grande do Sul.

The registration of people will be done directly in the municipalities through a multisectoral team made up of representatives from the state government and partner entities. A digital platform will be created to speed up this process, according to the Government of Rio Grande do Sul.

PIX account is not owned by the government

The holder of the Pix “SOS Rio Grande do Sul” account is not the Government of Rio Grande do Sul but the Association of Banks of Rio Grande do Sul, which is part of the Management Committee. For the state government, this fact facilitates transactions, avoiding public administration bureaucracy.

“If it entered the government's coffers, it would become a public resource and would have a series of requirements to meet when investing. As it comes from a private entity account, the beneficiary will be able to buy construction materials, medicines or food when they are no longer receiving direct assistance. And there is no requirement for those who received it to prove the destination of the resource”, reported the head of the RS Civil House, Artur Lemos in published content.
