Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a “wonderful conversation” with his American counterpart Joe Biden and thanked him for the US support to Kyiv in its war against Russia.
“We discussed Ukraine’s next steps on our path to defeating the aggressor and that it is important to hold Russia accountable for war crimes,” he said in a post, in English, on Twitter.
For her part, White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said Russia should agree to the creation of a demilitarized zone around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which has been controlled by Russian forces since last March.
According to Jean-Pierre, in the telephone conversation that Biden had with Zelensky earlier today, the American president reiterated that the United States supports Ukraine against Russian aggression.
