U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Ibrahim Kalin, an adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, spoke Tuesday and pledged to “prevent any further Russian aggression,” he said.
Turkish television channel TRT Haber reported that Kalin told Sullivan that Turkey would offer “all kinds of support” to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and added that Erdogan’s visit to the country on Thursday “would help resolve the issue through diplomacy ”.
Turkey had proposed in November to mediate in resolving the crisis. Diplomatic sources said in January that both Russia and Ukraine were open to Ankara’s proposal.
TRT Haber also reported that Kalin and Sullivan also referred to the talks being held to normalize relations between Turkey and Armenia.
