Complaint by La Liga after the racist attack against Vinicius

THE La Liga filed a legal complaint on Tuesday (7/2) in a Majorca court, following the racist attack received by the Real Madrid and Brazil national football player, Vinicius Jrby Mallorca fans.

Mallorca fans were filmed abusing racist the 22-year-old striker during their side’s win on Sunday (5/2) against last year’s LaLiga champions, with the video posted by DAZN on social media.

LaLiga has forwarded all the information gathered, together with its complaint, both to the Palma de Mallorca Court and to the Mallorcan team so that it can participate in the case.”the announcement of the organizing authority of the championship states.

It is the sixth complaint lodged by LaLiga this year for racist chants or insults against Vinicius. Earlier on Tuesday (7/2), Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti stressed that all these sad incidents against Vinicius are a problem for the whole of Spanish football.

It seems like Vinicius is the problem and it’s not. It’s a problem of Spanish football and it must be solved,” said the Italian coach at a press conference in Rabat ahead of the Club World Cup semi-final against Egypt’s Al Ahly.

The question I ask is this: Is it Vinicius or his teammates? What do his teammates have to defend Vinicius from? Vinicius is a victim, which I don’t understand”.

Spanish police are also investigating a possible hate crime against the Brazilian after two weeks ago a doll wearing his No.20 shirt hung from a bridge in front of the club’s training ground, before the Madrid derby. The doll was hanging by the neck next to a banner in the red and white colors of Atlético Madrid that read “Madrid hates Real”.

Pele, Neymar and other top Brazilian figures defended Vinicius last September after a panelist on a Spanish football show compared his goal celebrations to those of a monkey, sparking an immediate backlash on social media.

Vinicius then issued a video statement in response to what he called “xenophobic and racist” slur, saying he “won’t stop dancing” and that “the happiness of a black Brazilian being successful in Europe bothers a lot of people».
