As planned, Olympus has completed the transfer of its photography and product development division to Japan Industrial Partners (JIP). Please note that the Olympus name is not used for this business. It is now called OM Digital Solutions.

OM Digital Solutions includes R&D and sales teams located at headquarters in Tokyo. Production will continue at the former Olympus facilities located in Vietnam. The new company, with about 2,000 employees worldwide, will manufacture digital cameras, interchangeable lenses, digital voice recorders and related products. It will continue to support existing users of Olympus products.
Photographic equipment has long been one of Olympus’ core businesses. The Japanese manufacturer released the first camera in 1936. Olympus now expects to focus on medical and scientific equipment.
