The company “Baikal Electronics” and the Russian developer of information security tools and specialized software “NumaTech” signed a cooperation agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, both companies intend to develop the software ecosystem and develop information security tools for systems based on Baikal processors.
Efforts will primarily be directed to the Numa Arce trusted boot (Trusted Boot) software module, which will be refined and adapted for motherboards of various manufacturers. They are also considering using these cards for the Numa Edge certified firewall and the Numa vServer trusted virtualization environment.
As reported on the NumaTech website, such systems will receive a domestic BIOS / UEFI called Numa BIOS. The company’s specialists have already modified and adapted the BIOS and MDZ for the Aquarius AQBM1000 motherboard with the Baikal-M processor. It provides all the standard security features as outlined in the Trusted Boot Requirements. If manufacturers are interested, there is a possibility of creating trusted hardware platforms for information systems with high security requirements in the future.
