Conan O’Brien was the host of the Oscar 2025 and revealed some gold ideas that he and his writer were not allowed to perform. In an episode of the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast, the host and Mike Sweeney, who acted as the main editor of the awards, discussed some moments behind the scenes of the event, which took place on March 2.
According to O’Brien, he gave an idea that he and an Oscar statuette of 2.7 meters high would be a couple who was “fighting for things for which couples fight.”
“I thought it would be great if it was just on the couch. Let’s put it on a very large sofa and I will pass the vacuum cleaner and say, ‘You could at least lift your feet? Or could you at least get up and help? Loading the dishwasher? ”He said, adding that they would tell him that this could not happen.
“One of the gym people spoke and said, ‘Oscar can never be horizontal.’ And that surprised me, ”he said.
O’Brien joked that the Oscar statue “is like St. Peter’s tomb. This is a religious icon. ”
He would also like the statue to dress an apron like a housewife. This was also rejected when they were told: “No clothes in the statuette. The statuette is always naked. ”
The original opening was also discarded, shared O’Brien. What appeared on the show was O’Brien doing a parody of “The Substance”, starring Demi Moore. His original idea involved more movies, he revealed.
“Start with me and I’m in ‘Wicked’ and I’m all green, ending ‘Defying Gravity’ or one of those songs. And I finish and then you move on to the next thing that is ‘Gladiator II’ and Clang, Clang, Clang with Swords and you see that I am a gladiator, but then you realize that I am still green. And then you go to the ‘conclave’ and see people voting with their banknotes and one of the pointers is still green. ”
The joke about being green – like Elphaba, character of “Wicked” – continued with more movies, including “Dune: Part Two” and “Nosferatu,” he said.
