Concession of kiosk where Congolese was killed will stay with family until 2030

The city of Rio de Janeiro formalized, this Monday (7), the concession of the Tropicália and Biruta kiosks to the family of Congolese Moïse Kabagambe.

The document that grants permission to operate the establishments until the year 2030 was delivered to the family during a meeting with representatives of the concessionaire that manages the kiosks, the municipal secretary of Finance, Pedro Paulo, and the mayor Eduardo Paes.

The space will also be a place of celebration of the culture of the African people and a memorial to Moïse.

“From the beginning we understood that such a brutal crime could not be treated as if it were something normal or commonplace in our city. We understand that this could be coupled with the presence of Moïse’s own family there. We must remind people of the crime that happened there,” said the mayor.

According to the commitment letter delivered by Orla Rio, the concessionaire that manages the kiosks, and the city hall, the Biruta establishment is still involved in a lawsuit involving the owner and a sub-lessee of the space. Tropicália will be handed over immediately to the victim’s family.

Orla Rio also stated that it will offer legal, legal and bureaucratic support for opening and operating the point of sale. Another objective of the enterprise is to carry out a social project for the education and training of immigrants and refugees.

The 24-year-old Congolese youth was brutally murdered two weeks ago after charging two working days, totaling R$200.
