The next August 17that the Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Course on the Monterey Peninsula, California, will be staged the 39th edition Of Italian competition, the reference event for Made in Italy motoring and lifestyle enthusiasts which will be held during the Monterey Car Week, now “reinvented”.

An edition that promises to be full of new features, starting with the new President, the entrepreneur, car collector and patron of the Italian Competition Richard DeAndrade. «As a long-time participant in Concorso Italiano and one of the event’s supporters in recent years, I am honored to become its custodian and can’t wait for August 17th to allow you to experience first-hand what the future has in store for the event. The theme for 2024, in line with the moment of discontinuity that a change of ownership entails, is “transition“. A look at the past, highlighting and appreciating all that is heritagebut looking to the future with an open vision” commented the President.

More than a classic car show, this year’s event aims to be a true celebration of the Italian lifestyle in its entirety, from automotive design (cars, motorbikes, mopeds and bicycles, with plans for further extensions) to art, design, fashion, technology and, of course, true Italian cuisine. The participants in Concorso Italiano will in fact be transported to the heart of the Sweet life, having access to a series of truly unforgettable experiences, not least the tasting of all-local delicacies. The event will be divided into more 5,000 m2 of surface area, elegantly embellished with examples of Italian craftsmanship and excellence: a delightful wonderland which in 2024 will welcome an unprecedented number of prestigious Italian cars. The strong link between the event and Italy, then, is further highlighted by the partnership withAutomobile Club Milan, the Milanese public body dedicated to the needs of motorists and member of the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) association.

But not only. In 2024 Italian Competition will further strengthen its focus on the local community of the Monterey Peninsula and California by supporting charitable causes that make a difference in the lives of others. From helping disadvantaged families to supporting educational and health initiatives, as well as helping animals; event participants will help promote positive change for those less fortunate.

A further piece that confirms the strong bond with Italy is the presence of Pininfarina, that he chose Italian competition for the launch in the United States of its new program aimed at certifying vintage cars: Pininfarina Classiche. «The love for the cars designed by Pininfarina demonstrated every year by the participants in Concorso Italiano inevitably led to choosing this event for the launch of the Pininfarina Classiche service in the United States. We can’t wait to show other American enthusiasts the support we can provide thanks to the enormous proprietary historical archive of cars designed and produced by Pininfarina over the decades” he says Giuseppe BonolloSenior Vice President Sales & Marketing.

Exclusively for those who will register for the 2024 edition of the Italian Competition with their car designed and produced by Pininfarina and will request a production certificate, the renowned Italian design house will provide privileged access to its new certification program, subject to availability of information. On the occasion of the Italian Competition, Pininfarina will also launch an additional service for collectors, aimed at creating personalized artworks based on the information stored in the Pininfarina archive.

Despite the many new features of the 2024 edition of the Monterey event that will be revealed to guests in August, the awards remain at the center of the event, which since its debut has been characterized by a highly anticipated elegance competition.

Participants will compete for the Best of Show Award, which this year consists of a work of art designed by Walter De Silva which will continue the long tradition of Concorso Italiano trophies with a touch of Italian style, while also establishing a new one. De Silva’s touch on the Best of Show Award will indeed last beyond the 2024 edition of the event, as the world-famous designer who has left his mark on many successful Italian cars he will be the author of the award design for years to come. «I am proud to be involved in a project like Concorso Italiano which combines passion for Italian cars and lifestyle, which are also the source of inspiration for the design of the award in which the lines of a car intersect with the colors of the Italian flag to create a timeless sculptural form” explained Walter De Silva.

In addition to the Best of Show, as in previous editions, several other classes of the elegance competition will be celebrated, including the one that will be awarded with the Valentino Balboni Award. The legendary official Lamborghini test driver, a long-time friend of Concorso Italiano who tested almost every concept and racing or road car that left the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory from 1968 to 2008, will be back on the Bayonet green & Black Horse Golf Course to guide the class judges tasked with evaluating the participating Lamborghini cars.
