The optimism of factories Brazilian companies continued to decline in November, according to the National Confederation of Industry (CNI). On a scale in which values above 50 points mean positive prospects, the Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (Icei) dropped 1.8 points in the month, to 56 points.
In the last three months, the drop in the indicator is already 7.2 points, pointing to a weaker and less widespread confidence in the sector.
All components that make up the Icei worsened in November. The Current Conditions Index dropped by 1.8 points – to 49.7 points – below the 50-point dividing line, meaning a negative perception.
“The worsening is due to the perception of the current conditions of the Brazilian economy, whose index dropped 3.1 points in November, accumulating a decline of 11.9 points in the last three months”, explained the economic analysis manager at CNI, Marcelo Azevedo.
“The perception of the company’s current conditions is still positive, but this view has also been deteriorating in recent months,” he added.
The Expectations Index also dropped 1.8 points, but is still at 59.1 points, revealing that entrepreneurs maintain moderate optimism for the next six months.
