Confidence of trade entrepreneurs rises 15% in 2021 compared to 2020, says FecomercioSP

The Trade Entrepreneur Confidence Index (Icec) in São Paulo registered an increase of 2.4% in December, the seventh consecutive increase at the margin. With the result, the indicator ended 2021 at 117.1 points, an increase of 15% compared to 2020. The information was released by the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State (FecomercioSP).

Also according to the federation, the Trade Expansion Index (IEC) increased by 3% between December and November, reaching 116.8 points; 15% increase over the same period in 2020. The Stock Index (IE) also advanced, with a marginal increase of 1.1%, closing the year at 113.2 points.

Inventory perception

The volume of businessmen who consider the situation of stocks to be adequate increased by 0.6% in December, comprising 56.2% of those interviewed. On the other hand, there was a drop of 0.2% among those who considered the situation to be inadequate (29.3%) and 0.4% among those who considered inventories to be below the desired level (13.8%).

Subscripts

The three sub-indices that make up the Icec registered marginal and interannual advances. The Trade Entrepreneur’s Current Conditions Index (Icaec) increased by 5.4% at the margin, reaching 95.4 points; growth of 39.2% compared to 2020.

The Commerce Entrepreneur’s Expectation Index (Ieec) rose 0.8% to 149.8 points; year-on-year increase of 4.1%. Finally, the Trade Entrepreneur Investment Index (IIEC) increased 2.1% to 106 points; 14.5% advance compared to 2020.

Among the sub-indices that make up the IEC, the index that measures Expectations for Hiring Employees grew by 0.6% at the margin, recording 135.3 points; year-on-year increase of 3.7%. The level of investment by companies grew by 6.4%, ending 2021 at 98.2 points; advance of 37.4% compared to 2020.
