Congonhas Airport is “filet mignon” for auction this Thursday, says expert

The concession of Congonhas Airport, in São Paulo, to the private sector is the main focus of investors in the 7th round of the airport concessions program, which will be carried out by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) this Thursday afternoon (18) , emphasizes Marcus Quintella, director of FGV Transportes.

“In the block (to be offered today), the fillet is Congonhas”, he said in an interview with CNN . The offer includes 15 Brazilian airports, including the São Paulo terminal.

“If Congonhas were offered alone, perhaps the fight would be fiercer, with interesting competition, but (the winner of the bid will take) in tow another 10 airports that are more loss-making”, he says.

The patterns of this farm’s offer may help explain the fact that, for now, there is an interested group, according to Quintela, who also cites the current economic and political scenario as responsible for the lack of competition.

“An economic environment of high interest rates and inflation, despite being a 30-year project, and political uncertainty in an election year greatly influence investors.”

Despite this, the specialist considers the concession plan for this sector to be successful. “There are 44 airports granted, reaching 92%, with this seventh round, of all national traffic to the private sector, leaving little to reach 100%, it is an important advance”, he says.
