US Congressman from Alabama Barry Moore has filed a cryptocurrency purchase report with the House of Representatives. Moore has invested in DOGE, ETH and ADA in recent months.
Interestingly, in his declaration, the congressman mistakenly wrote the word “Etherium”. According to the document, Barry Moore bought ETH on May 5, then on May 10, 11 and 13 he bought Cardano, and on June 13 he invested in Dogecoin. The exact number of coins or the amount of purchases is unknown, but all investments fall into the category “from $ 1,000 to $ 15,000”. That is, he could buy cryptocurrencies in the amount of $ 5,000 to $ 75,000.
It is worth noting that the presence of the Cardano cryptocurrency in the congressman’s portfolio most likely indicates that he used the services of cryptocurrency exchanges – there is no ADA support in popular trading platforms with access to cryptocurrencies, such as PayPal or Robinhood.
Apparently, Barry Moore’s portfolio is currently in the “red zone” – the prices of the assets he bought have declined since the date of purchase. So, ADA was trading in the range from $ 1.65 to $ 1.9, and at the time of publication, the coin is trading at $ 1.41. Dogecoin dropped from $ 0.31 to $ 0.23.
A similar situation is with ETH – the rate dropped from $ 3,000 to $ 2,300. However, in this case, the congressman could have made a profit if he sold the coins on time – on May 13, the ether rate reached $ 4,300.
Perhaps Barry Moore also owns other cryptocurrencies – he recently took office and does not yet have to disclose the assets that he owned before his election as Congressman. Only those investments that he made after taking office are subject to disclosure.
Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis recently revealed that she keeps bitcoins to secure future retirement and urged fellow citizens to follow her example.
