More than 57,000 family farmers in Brazil should receive the Garantia-Safra aid in February. The benefit will be paid in a single installment, in an amount of R$ 850, to farmers in Alagoas, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe.
According to data from the Secretariat of Family Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the payment amount will reach more than 49 million reais.
The benefit is paid to family farmers who live in regions that are systematically subject to crop loss due to drought or excessive rainfall.
Farmers must also have a monthly income of up to one and a half minimum wages (R$1,818, considering the current minimum of R$1,212), when they have had production losses in their municipalities equal to or greater than 50%.
