Consumer confidence rises more than expected in December

The Consumer Confidence Index from University of Michigan for December it was 81.4, above the market consensus of 76.5. In November the reading was 76.9.

The condition index current rose from 87 to 91.8, while that of expectations went up from 70.5 to 74.7.

The advance in the confidence indicators occurred despite the deterioration of the labor market and possibly driven by the expectation of the vaccine.
