Consumer confidence unexpectedly falls back in November

The preliminary consumer confidence report prepared by the University of Michigan showed a drop in the main indicators, which was surprising as a slight improvement was expected.

The The University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index fell from 81.8 to 77, being that the market consensus was for a reading of 82.0. It is the lowest reading since August. The expectations index went from 79.2 to 71.3.

Although it was the preliminary reading, it does not usually happen that it changes significantly from the final one. The data had no impact on the market and the dollar it was held with modest losses.
