The official responded to statements made today by French President Emmanuel Macron. If the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodimir Zelensky does not take place until Monday, “I believe that once again, this will mean that President Putin will have cheated on President Trump,” Macron said. The US president had stated on August 21 that he would know more “in the next two weeks” about the prospects for peace, adding that then he could “perhaps adopt a different approach”.
