Among the countries of the European Union and the European Economic Area that have beds for people from Ukraine in need are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Iceland, Latvia , Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
Crisis Management Commissioner Janes Lenarsic noted that “the EU Emergency Response Coordination Center is working around the clock to coordinate the unprecedented assistance mobilized since the first day of this violent invasion of Ukraine. The EU Civil Protection Mechanism is ready to assist in channeling patient transport “.
In order to alleviate the pressure on the healthcare systems of the Member States bordering Ukraine, a special mechanism has been set up under the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention early warning system through which EU Member States can request support. for transporting patients in need of medical care.
The mechanism will support the matching of patient transport needs in neighboring EU Member States based on offers and treatment and treatment facilities available in hospitals in other EU Member States, as well as the secure exchange of required information.
