The iconic Copacabana Palace, Belmond Hotel will go through a great renovation From April. The Centenary Hotel on the Copacabana edge in Rio de Janeiro will renew the 11 -story annex building built in 1948.
The reform is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026 and, when finalized, the annex will be called Tower Club . The project includes complete renewal of suites, SPA, academy and Cipriani Restaurant holder of a Michelin star and elected last year the best Italian outside Italy.
“This is the biggest investment made at once in the history of the hotel, a significant milestone for the future of Copacabana Palace,” says Ulisses Marreiros, general manager of the hotel and director of Belmond in Brazil. Values related to the reform were not disclosed by the company.
Changes in rooms and common areas
With the renovation, the accommodations of the building will add 68 units, with 70 and 80 square meters designed for families and long stay guests.
The SPA will cease to work on the ground floor and occupy two floors. The old space will be transformed into a large academy.
Updates will also occur in Cipriani, piloted by chef Nello Cassese, and in the library space, called The Library. The idea, according to a statement from the hotel, is “bringing more Brazilianness” to the venture and relying on works by national arts that include Carybé, Aldemir Martins and Ciro Fernandes.
The Copa’s emblematic pool will also be revitalized with new coatings and technologies, also bringing a pool bar and a reformed deck. The upper terrace, overlooking the pool and the beach, will receive new furniture and huts.
In the case of the pool, the process is expected to last only three months during winter and low season. During the period, the hotel will make the sixth pool available to all guests.
During the renovation of the Annex, the hotel will normally operate with the main building and the mee and pergula restaurants.
Auction of objects and furniture
