“Coreper’s decision on AstraZeneca vaccine will be binding”

The decision by the European Medicines Agency (Coreper) on the AstraZeneca vaccine, the administration of which has been temporarily suspended, clarified the federal Ministry of Health.

“It clearly depends on the decision of Coreper. Clearly, Coreper’s decision is binding. “Clearly, we will follow the decision of Coreper, because it will decide whether the new data available from Germany and other European countries – let me remind you that in the meantime there is an eighth case of thrombosis in the brain – will affect the licensing of the vaccine.” said Health Ministry spokesman Hanno Kauts.

“In this sense, we will wait for it and decide further,” he added, noting that meetings of the Standing Vaccination Committee and the Paul Ehrlich Institute will follow.
