Corn exports from Brazil in October could be the biggest of the year, says association

Corn exports from Brazil in October were estimated this Tuesday (18th) at up to 7.2 million tons, which would be the highest monthly volume of the year, if the most optimistic projection is confirmed, according to a report by the National Association of Cereal Exporters (Anec).

Anec also said that exports, in the worst case of the range of projections, would reach 5.5 million tons.

The entity raised its forecast for October, which last week was seen at up to 6.16 million tons, according to data that takes into account the schedule of ships and shipments made.

The projection for the period from January to October was 32.8 million tons of corn, versus 20.6 million tons in the whole of 2021, when production broke down due to drought and frost. This year, the weather was more favorable for cereal crops.

Corn exports from Brazil, the second global exporter of the product, have also been favored this year by the effects of the war in Ukraine, a major exporter that stopped serving some markets in the face of the war.

Soybean exports from Brazil should reach up to 3.767 million tons in October, according to Anec, versus 3.463 million tons in the previous week.

This would bring shipments in the first ten months of 2022 to 74.6 million tonnes.
