Corona virus: Deaths and cases at the lowest levels since June – Greece is 27th in the world in infections

Both new daily deaths and new daily deaths are at their lowest levels since June outbreaks of the coronavirus worldwide, showing last week a decrease of 24% and 21% respectively.

Just last week (Monday 5/9 to Sunday 11/9) as reported by the Athens News Agency, approximately 475,000 cases and 1,550 deaths were recorded worldwide on an average daily basis coronavirus. Although Omicron’s BA.5 subvariant, which emerged in late April, continues to spread internationally and become the dominant one, the average daily number of about 475,000 new cases is the lowest since June 11.

The last time new cases exceeded one million in a single day was on April 13 this year.while the daily record was set – due to Omicron – on January 21, 2022 with 3.84 million new cases.

In the “front” of of Covid-19 vaccines, it is estimated that more than 12.6 billion doses have been administered worldwide to date, to a population of 7.9 billion on Earth. As expected, the two countries with the largest populations, China (1.5 billion inhabitants) and India (1.4 billion), have given the most vaccines, about 3.5 and 2.2 billion doses respectively.

Greece appears 27th in the world in total cases

Based on data from Wordometers.info, Greece ranks 27th in the world in total cases (4.8 million), 25th in cases per million population, 31st in total deaths (32,757), 18th in deaths per million population and 15th in tests (92.3 million).
