The tendency to concentrate his viral load is increasing coronavirus in the urban waste of Thessaloniki based on the most recent measurements for the research conducted by the Wastewater Epidemiology Group of AUTH with EYATH, in collaboration with the Region of Central Macedonia and within the framework of the National Network of EODY.
Its average weekly price viral load -from Thursday to Wednesday- increased by 26% (increase in the limit of experimental uncertainty) and while in the previous days there were signs of stabilization.
Specifically, in the samples taken daily at the entrance to the wastewater treatment facility Thessalonikiregarding the rationalized values of relative viral load excretion, the average value of the two most recent measurements, i.e. Tuesday 25/10/2022 and Wednesday 26/10/2022 is:
- Stable (+10%) compared to the average value of the two immediately preceding measurements of Sunday 23/10/2022 and Monday 24/10/2022.
- Significantly increased by 58% compared to the average price of the previous Tuesday 18/10/2022 and Wednesday 19/10/2022.
The methodology for assessing the coronavirus in urban waste, developed by the AUTH team, rationalizes the concentration measurements of the virus genome based on 24 environmental factors, which can alter the results of the measurements.
