Coronation Charles: all the distance between William and Harry

The coronation of King Charles seems to have definitively sanctioned the farewell between William and Harry. There was no contact between the two brothers, not even a word. The distance between the two was evident in Westminster Abbey. Between the first and third rows, on such an occasion, there is an abyss like watching a match from the central grandstand or from the curve of a stadium.

Harry was present at the coronation, but somehow it was as if he wasn’t there. Just a nod from some of those present, apart from a joke with theArchbishop Welby that he would have been the father’s go-between to have Harry’s presence at the ceremony, not even a word and it seems not even a look exchanged with father and brother. With the cousins, with whom he arrived, talked and also with their husbands. Even with his aunt, Anna, he spoke, but went little further. He sang God Save King Charles And God Save the King. He did what he had to: be present. Nothing more. And the father and brother have granted nothing more.

He would wait ten minutes alone outside the Abbey before leaving for the airport. According to the calculation of Daily Mail he stayed in London for 28 hours and 42 minutes. Not even time to feel jet lag.

Already before the ceremony, according to a source of Entertainment Tonight, William was determined not to open a dialogue with his brother. «William is still angry about Harry’s book. He feels it was a betrayal and has no interest in communicating with Harry before the coronation about their disagreements.’ There was no time after that. Harry, as announced, is back in Los Angeles to celebrate the fourth birthday of his son Archie.

Difficult, for royal observers, that there could be a reconciliation in such an important and formal event that should have seen the king and queen at the center of everything. Royal expert Eloise Parker explained to the American magazine: “I think most people hope that the father-son relationship heals over time.” It wasn’t yesterday the right day when the king was the protagonist, William had a role and nothing was there for Harry. Not even a seat on the balcony.

The coronation remains the first occasion the three have been together in public since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last September. Then there was also Meghan Markle who this time remained in Montecito with her children and Harry is already with them.
