Coronavirus case record in Cuba

The Cuban Ministry of Health announced yesterday Saturday that the previous 24 hours 1,383 cases of SARS-CoV-2 confirmed, for second consecutive record day since pandemicone of the new coronavirus on the island in March 2020, while another 11 patients with COVID-19 succumbed.

The death toll from the pandemic has so far reached 796 dead out of a total of 123,221 infections, according to the same source, as broadcast by APE-MPE.

Havana remains the epicenter of the epidemic, with 784 cases in 24 hours and an incidence rate of 446.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

For the chief epidemiologist of the Cuban Ministry of Health, Francisco Duran, she “Is the period with the greatest epidemiological complexity” that the island has ever encountered.

From the middle of the week, the Ministry of Health conducts mass immunization campaign in the capital with the two most advanced candidate vaccines developed domestically. The government hopes that most of the population will be vaccinated by the summer, once the vaccines have obtained emergency permits from the relevant supervisory body and their utilization has been generalized.
