Coronavirus: Change in entry rules to Austria from three Western Balkan countries

Austria changed from today Thursday (8/7) the entry rules for the countries of the Western Balkans and Thus, the certificate of vaccination, Cov, or recovery from the coronavirus or recent negative test, is now sufficient for entry from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro.

As of today, the three countries are on the green list, which includes the member states of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which also includes last week Serbia, Albania and Northern Macedonia. The list of “green countries” in Austria also includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Brunei, Jordan and Qatar.

All EU and EFTA countries as well as non-European countries USA, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Chinese Special Administrative Region Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam from last week, and those entering from these countries no longer need to fill out an entry form (“Pre-Travel-Clearance”).

There is a tightening in the case of Russia, which until now was classified as orange, which meant that fully vaccinated people could enter the country (14 days after the second vaccination or 14 days after a single dose for those who have recovered).

Today, Russia is in the same category as “red” countries such as Great Britain, Brazil, India and South Africa. for which, upon entering Austria, visitors coming from them enter a mandatory ten-day quarantine, which may be reduced after five days, following a new negative test.

The Austrian Foreign Ministry on July 1 lifted the global travel warning it had issued 15 months ago due to the coronavirus.

Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Salenberg announced last week that only a few virus-infected regions such as Brazil, South Africa, India and Great Britain are now in the red.

By removing the travel warning, fully liberated from 1 July was the entry from the member states of the European Union and also from the three countries of the Western Balkans – Serbia, Northern Macedonia and Albania, while, according to the Austrian Foreign Minister, most of the non-European countries would change from “red” to “orange”.

Entry into Austria from orange-colored countries requires a full coronavirus vaccination or recovery from the disease (each after a period of 14 days).

As of July 1, the green list also includes some non-European countries such as the USA, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Thailand.
