Coronavirus: China’s health authorities adjust Covid-19 prevention and control protocols

China’s health authorities have adjusted the latest COVID-19 prevention and control protocols, according to a statement from the National Health Commission (NHC) on Friday.

In its 10th edition, the NHC said it will further refine the clinical categorization and treatment method of the virus and add positive antigen tests as a diagnostic standard.

The revision in the prevention and control protocols comes as a continuation of the health situation that China is going through lately with thousands of cases of coronavirus being recorded every day and people piling up in hospitals.

It is estimated that in Shanghai 70% of the population has fallen ill, i.e. 18 out of 25 million citizens.

In the Asian country of 1 billion 400 million inhabitants, the health services announced that yesterday Thursday, they had only 5 deaths from complications of the disease Covid-19. This is also the reason why the figures given by Beijing are internationally disputed.

The Chinese Ministry of the Interior, for its part, says that the European Union should examine “objectively” and “fairly” the epidemiological situation in China, at the same time as the country’s Ministry of Transport is calling on citizens to limit travel and commuting ahead of the Chinese New Year which is celebrated on January 22.

It is even recommended that citizens do not have meetings and do not spend time with people belonging to vulnerable groups (elderly and pregnant), while those using public transport are asked to use a mask.
