Coronavirus: Emirates to Start Sinopharm Vaccine for Children 3 to 17 Years Old

In the administration of its Chinese vaccine Sinopharm against covid-19 in children aged 3 to 17 years will proceed United Arab Emirates, as announced by the government of the country.

According to the Athenian Macedonian News Agency, the decision of the Ministry of Health was taken after conducting clinical trials, for which it does not provide details. The UAE authorities announced in June that the clinical trials would examine the immune response of 900 children.

The Gulf country, which has one of the highest immunization rates in the world, already gives the Pfizer vaccine to 12- to 15-year-olds.

According to yesterday’s announcement of the Ministry of Health, 78.95% of the Emirati population (approximately 9 million inhabitants in total) have received a dose of covid-19 vaccine and 70.57% are fully vaccinated.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 682,377 cases of covid-19 and 1,951 deaths have been reported in the United Arab Emirates.
