The extension, until 31 July, of “health passport” against coronavirus, which restricts access to many public places such as bars, cafes, cinemas or long-distance transport, suggests French Government.
According to the APE EIA, the extension of the special law on “pandemic management”, which allows the use of the health passport as well as local restrictions on travel, was presented to the cabinet today, Wednesday. With this measure, the government’s goal is to encourage 26,5% of the French who have not yet received both doses of their vaccine, to be vaccinated.
Although the government opposed compulsory vaccination, the fold is a prerequisite -from the 9th of August- for the access to many places of socialization. As of August 30, it also imposed on 1.8 million employees who come into contact with the public.
Opposition MPs they complained this eight-month extension, judging that the government wants to avoid a potentially conflicting debate before the next presidential election in April.
“We have to stay alert”
Government spokesman Gabriel Atal today tried to calm the situation, explaining that there would be “a debate in parliament on the basis of the text voted in the cabinet”.
It is pointed out that the extension of the state of emergency also extends the increased powers of the government.
The state of emergency and the obligation of a health passport were expected to expire on November 15.
“There is an insignificant danger resuscitation of the pandemic. “We have to stay vigilant until next summer,” Atal told reporters after the cabinet meeting, referring to the extension of the state of emergency to manage the ongoing coronavirus crisis. “The health pass will not be eternal,” he stressed.
