The last twenty-four hours, in Italy 10,680 cases of coronavirus were recorded and 296 people lost their lives. Due to Catholic Easter, only 102,795 diagnostic tests were performed, 10.4% of which were positive. Yesterday the corresponding percentage was 7.1%. The number of cases was 18,025, with 326 dead.
In the intensive care units of the country, the patients with coronavirus today are 34 more than yesterday, while in the hospital wards they are 353 more.
According to the data of the Italian Ministry of Health, so far 68% of the employees in the Italian schools have been vaccinated against Covid-19, with the first dose and only 0.59% with the second one. The percentage of all vaccinated doctors, nurses and hospital support staff reaches 91% in terms of the first dose and 76% of the second.
56% of citizens over the age of eighty have received the first dose of coronavirus, while 30% have completed the vaccination cycle. In nursing homes, finally, 89% were vaccinated with the initial dose and 72% with the second.
Alarm in Turkey as well
THE Turkey recorded 42,551 cases of coronavirus in the last twenty-four hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health, remaining close to the level of the negative record reached at the weekend.
According to Reuters, Turkey is currently ranked as the country with the fifth highest number of daily cases on a weekly average.
The number of new infections has risen steadily since the government eased some of the restrictive measures in early March, reaching 44,756 infections on Saturday, the highest number since the pandemic began.
Last week, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a tightening of measures, including the resumption of a total lockdown across the country during Ramadan, which begins on April 13 this year.
According to the data of the Ministry of Health, the cases amount to a total of 3.529 million. Another 193 people died in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll from Covid-19 to 32,456.
