Coronavirus – Iran: The first case of the Omicron mutation has been identified

The Iran confirmed the first case of coronavirus due to the Omicron variant, the Ministry of Health announced today, while the authorities called on the Iranians to be vaccinated with the third dose in this worst-hit country in the Middle East.

Iranian Deputy Health Minister Kamal Heydari told state television that The person infected with the virus is a middle-aged Iranian who recently returned to his country from the United Arab Emirates..

Deaths from complications of covid-19 in the country have reached 131,084, the Ministry of Health announced, while the cases in the last 24 hours increased by 1,968 and reached 6,170,979.

More than 50 million Iranians out of a population of about 85 million have been vaccinated with both doses of the coronavirus drug.
