Coronavirus – Italy: Five months after vaccination shield drops below 40%

THE Italy recorded 21,042 coronavirus cases and 96 deaths in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 5,206,305 infections and 134,765 deaths in the country. In total, 565,077 diagnostic tests were performed today, 3.7% of which were positive.

There are 818 patients with Covid-19 in the intensive care units of the country, while there are 6,539 in the hospital wards.

According to the Italian Higher Institute of Health, immediately after the completion of the vaccination cycle the probability of infection is reduced by 76%. After five months, however, the shield is limited to 39%. For this reason, it becomes necessary to administer a new dose.

At the same time, according to the country’s Higher Institute of Health, unvaccinated citizens affected by the disease are 16 times more likely to die than those who have taken the “booster dose”.

The news that a fifty-year-old man, a vaccinator, refused to be intubated and died today, caused a sensation in Italy. It happened in the city of Trento, in northeastern Italy.

According to Rai Public Television, doctors at Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento said that if the 50-year-old had not refused their help, he would probably have been saved.
