Coronavirus – Italy: Over 15,000 new cases and 43 deaths in the last 24 hours

The Italian Ministry of Health announced yesterday Sunday (5/12) that in the previous 24 hours 43 patients succumbed due to complications coronavirus, compared to 75 the previous while the number of cases of SARS-CoV-2 confirmed decreased to 15,021, compared with 16,632 a day earlier, after 525,108 tests.

With 134,195 deaths due to the new coronavirus pandemic after it broke out in its territory in February 2020 until yesterday, Italy, with a population of 60 million, has the second highest official casualty rate in Europe to date, after Britain, and the ninth heaviest in the world.

The number of patients being treated in hospitals with COVID-19 – excluding those in intensive care units (ICU) – increased to 5,597 yesterday, compared to 5,428 the day before yesterday Saturday.

In the ICU, 45 patients were admitted, compared to 59 the previous year. The total number of patients in the ICU increased to 736, from 732 the day before yesterday Saturday.
