Russia is facing an outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic with the authorities attributing the rising numbers to Delta mutation and at low vaccination rates.
The country announced on Thursday (22/7) that 24,471 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in the last 24 hours, including 4,287 in Moscow, bringing the official total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 6,054,711.
The responsible government body for the management of the pandemic pointed out, as broadcast by the Athenian News Agency, that 796 deaths were recorded in the last twenty-four hours, while a total of 151,501 deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Russian Statistics Service, in its own separate count, has recorded about 290,000 deaths related to Covid-19, between April 2020 and May 2021.
