Coronavirus: More than 200 million cases worldwide

The cases coronavirus more than 200 million people today, Wednesday, according to the Reuters news agency, as the Delta mutation threatens areas with low vaccination rates.

Cases are increasing at least 83 from 240 countries, according to this report, which is republished by RES EIA, exercising pressure on health systems (https://tmsnrt.rs/34pvUyi).

“At a time when we desperately want to end this pandemic, Covid-19 is clearly not over with us. “And therefore our battle must last a little longer,” she said this week Russell Wallensky, director of the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

At least 2,6% of the world population is infected, with the actual account being possible higher due to the low number of tests in many areas. If the number of infected people was one country, it would be eighth most densely populated in the world, behind Nigeria, according to a Reuters analysis.

It took over a year for the Covid-19 cases to reach their milestone 100 million, while the next 100 million were recorded in just over six months, according to the analysis.

The pandemic has left nearly 4.4 million dead.

The countries that report the most infections in the seven-day average are USA, the Brazil, the Indonesia, the India and Iran. They account for about 38% of all cases worldwide, recorded daily.

The US records the one in seven infections announced worldwide. Low-vaccination states in the United States, such as Florida and Louisiana, see record numbers of coronavirus patients being treated, despite the fact that the country has given 70% of adults at least one dose of the vaccine. The head of a hospital in Louisiana warned that “darker days” would come.

The unvaccinated represent almost the 97% of severe cases, according to the White House Covid-19 Management Team.

Rising cases in Asia

Countries in Southeast Asia are also seeing an increase in cases. With just 8% of the world’s population, the region reports almost 15% of all cases worldwide daily, according to a Reuters analysis.

THE Indonesia, which faced an exponential increase in coronavirus cases in July, recorded the highest number of deaths on average and exceeded the total of 100,000 deaths today. The country records one in every five deaths reported worldwide on a daily basis.

THE India, after the worst outbreak in April-May, sees once again an upward trend in cases. Last Friday, the country recorded 44,230 new COVID-19 infections, the highest number in three weeks, sparking concerns about a third wave.

THE Ohan in China, where the virus first appeared in late 2019, will test its 12 million inhabitants for coronavirus after confirming the first domestic cases of the Delta variant. The city had not reported any domestic cases since mid-May last year.
