Coronavirus-Pfizer vaccine: 26-year-old died of myocarditis

New Zealand authorities have linked the death of a 26-year-old to Pfizer vaccine, as the young man suffered myocarditis, a rare inflammation of the myocardium. This is the second death in this country associated with the known, though rare side effect of the vaccine, CNBC reports as a woman died in August after a second dose. The 26-year-old had only taken the first dose.

“Based on the information available, the council concluded that myocarditis was probably due to the vaccination of this man,” the Independent Vaccine Safety Monitoring Board said in a press release.

The youngster, who died within two weeks after receiving the first dose, he did not seek medical advice or treatment for the symptoms he was experiencing.

What Pfizer said

THE myocarditis can limit the ability of the heart muscle to supply blood to the organs and cause heart arrhythmias. However, it is not uncommon for people with myocarditis not to notice the slightest thing.

A Pfizer spokesman said he was informed of the death in New Zealand, all reports of possible side effects were studied and the benefit of the vaccine was considered to outweigh the potential risks.
