About 3,000 passengers a cruise ship, mostly Germans, landed today, Monday, in Lisbon, instead of continuing their journey to the Canary Islands, as many cases were identified between them coronavirus, according to AFP.
The first passengers, who tested negative, began to disembark at dawn today and were taken by bus to Lisbon airport to return to their home countries, said Diogo Vieira Branco, head of the capital’s port authority. Portugal.
The cruise ship evacuation operation AIDAnova is expected to be completed late this afternoon, APE reports.
The ship, which docked Wednesday in Lisbon, bound for La Coru ,a in northwestern Spain, was carrying 2.844 passengers and 1.353 crew members. Those who were found to be positive are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms and were quarantined in city hotels.
All passengers over 12 years old and crew were vaccinated and had been submitted twice to test before boarding the cruise ship, the company clarified.
