On alert due to its outbreak coronavirus Montenegro has the highest number of cases in terms of population ratio among the countries of the Western Balkans in the last two weeks.
The index, as broadcast by the country’s public television, reached 122 cases SARS-CoV-2 per 100,000 inhabitants in Montenegro is followed by Croatia (47 cases per 100,000 inhabitants), Slovenia (42), Serbia (41), Northern Macedonia (15), Albania (11) and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Herzegovina (9), according to a public television report.
As for the victims of the pandemic, the Montenegro ranked third in the region during the same period, with the highest proportion of deaths by population in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reaching 268 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Northern Macedonia (264) and Montenegro (258).
In the periphery of Western Balkans Montenegro, according to the Athens News Agency, also ranks first in terms of the impact rate from the pandemic, with 16,088 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Slovenia (12,501) and Serbia (10,321).
