Coronavirus – Spain: Night traffic ban in Catalonia

Spanish justice today, Thursday, approved the enforcement night traffic ban in much of its periphery Catalonia (northeast Spain), a measure aimed at limiting its spread coronavirus, broadcasts by ΑΠΕ ΜΠΕ.

In particular, the Supreme Court of Catalonia (TSJC) has announced that it is approving the “measures requested” by the Catalan Government, which also include the closing of discos and the limit private meetings to a maximum of 10 people.

As the measure violates fundamental freedoms, the Autonomous Government, led by supporters of Catalonia’s independence, had to seek the “green light” of justice to be able to enforce this traffic ban by the 01:00 until 06:00 in the morning in all cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants in which the incidence exceeds 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, ie practically at the moment in all.

These restrictions will apply from tonight and will have an initial duration of 15 days in one of the most populous and most touristic regions of Spain.

This court decision was announced while the central government adopted this morning a decree that again makes the use of the mask outdoors mandatory throughout the country, which set a new record yesterday. 60.041 cases within 24 hours.

THE mandatory use of a mask, which will take effect tomorrow, Friday, and which the government wants “temporary”, will not concern sports activities or people who are alone – or surrounded by people in their homes – “in a natural place”, such as “The mountain or the beach,” the health minister said today Carolina Darias during a press conference.
