Coronavirus strikes Italy again: 18,938 cases, 718 dead in last 24 hours

The last twenty-four hours, in Italy 18,938 coronavirus cases and 718 people were recorded they lost their lives. 362,973 diagnostic tests were performed, 5.2% of which were positive.

Yesterday, the corresponding rate was 4.7%, the incidents 17,221 and 487 people lost the battle with the virus.

According to the Italian Institute of Health, the highest point of the virus has now been overcome, and slowly but surely the “third wave” of coronavirus in the country began to weaken.

The national transmission rate of the Rt virus is 0.92, ie at the level it was two months ago. Across Italy, 42% of intensive care unit beds are occupied by patients with covid-19.

The current particularly high number of deaths is due – according to clarifications – to the fact that in Sicily in recent days the total number of deaths had not been recorded. Compared to yesterday, finally, in the ICUs of Italy the patients with coronavirus are 60 less, while in the hospital wards they are 705 less.
