The Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, recently had a telephone conversation with the French President, Emanuel Macron, regarding the suspension of the AstraZeneca vaccine against coronavirus in a number of European countries.

The two leaders stressed that in Italy and France the suspension will last until the day after tomorrow, the 18th of the month, when the European Medicines Agency (Coreper) will announce the conclusions of its investigations and verifications.

At the same time, according to the Italian media, Draghi and Macron consider today’s assurances, which were given during the press conference of the executive director of EMA, Emer Cook, to be encouraging.

According to what is leaked, the Italian government is ready – in case of a positive decision of the European Medicines Agency – to support the continuation of the vaccination campaign with a new public information campaign.

It is estimated that if vaccinations resume normally, in Italy the delays of these days will be able to be replenished within about two weeks.
