Coronavirus: The Australians throw away the masks and the journeys begin

Normal returns to Australia from Friday (18/6). Melbourne gives the “green light” to its residents by allowing them to travel more than 25 kilometers from their homes while ending the mandatory use of the mask outdoors.

Despite the struggle of the city to face a persistent outbreak COVID-19 came out of a two-week lockdown late last week. This was the fourth wave of restrictions since the outbreak of the pandemic, following an outbreak that recorded about 100 cases of infection from May 24 onwards.

“Victoria is at her best when we are all together; the state will be back together again from tomorrow night.” The current Prime Minister of the state, James Merlino, told reporters, as broadcast by the Athens News Agency.

Despite the fact that cases of contamination associated with a new influx into an urban building block have increased slightly today, the Melbourne will gradually lift the restrictions.

Public rallies will increase to 20 people, while the restriction on house rallies will be lifted.

Gyms will be able to open in Melbourne, but they must follow strict rules for distances, while the operation of places such as barbershops, hairdressers and beauty salons will be done without masks.

Victoria reported five new local broadcasts today. All the incidents are connected to the confluence of the building block, with the total number of contamination cases having reached eight. Today’s number of cases includes two incidents that were announced yesterday, Tuesday, and which were recorded after midnight.

Officials say the new incidents are low-risk cases in the community, all linked to an active outbreak, but warned that social distancing measures should be strictly adhered to.

“In no case is it over… Please do not return to behaviors that imply that there is absolutely no danger”, said Brett Sutton, head of state health services, during a televised news conference.

Rapid tracking, lockdown enforcement and strict social distancing measures have helped Australia tackle previous outbreaks and keep COVID-19 case numbers relatively low, with just under 30,300 outbreaks and 910 deaths.

Daily events have remained in single digits for the past nine days in Victoria, while other states and territories have effectively eradicated the coronavirus.
