Coronavirus. The European Union has updated the rules of travel: there is a dark red zone

Yesterday, February 1, the Council of Europe updated its guidelines for a common approach to travel restrictions in the EU in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was reported by the press service of the Council of Europe.

On a weekly map published by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, dark red has been added to the existing country color categories (gray, green, orange and red).

This color will mark areas where the spread of coronavirus is very strong, including new strains. These are incidence rates of 500 new cases in two weeks per 100,000 people and above.

EU countries will have to strongly discourage travel to red and dark red zones, except where necessary.

EU states should require persons leaving the dark red zones:

– take a COVID-19 test before arrival;

– go through quarantine / self-isolation.
