Coronavirus: The United States has offered 500 million doses of vaccine to various countries

The US has offered 500 million doses vaccines against covid-19 in various countries of the world, the US Secretary of State announced today Anthony Blinken.

“The United States has so far distributed more than 500 million safe, effective and free doses of covid-19 vaccine to more than 110 countries and economies around the world with the sole purpose of saving lives,” Blinken said.

Washington’s goal is to offer a total of 1.1 billion doses.

The US Secretary of State added that since the beginning of the pandemic, just over two years ago, the US has provided “almost $ 20 billion in medical, humanitarian, economic and development assistance to more than 120 countries.”

“We have also invested in and supported capacity building for covid-19 vaccines in Asia and Africa,” Blinken said, adding that this “made a difference around the world”.

The US Secretary of State cited successful examples and local initiatives – with US assistance – in Paraguay, Zambia, Malawi or even Thailand.

“This project is crucial because pandemic is not over. “Many lives are still in danger around the world as countries try to overcome the Omicron strain and are faced with the possibility of new strains appearing,” Blinken said.
