Coronavirus: Third dose of mRNA vaccine for everyone recommended by experts in Serbia

The administration third dose with vaccine against coronavirus, type mRNA, recommended the committee of experts of its Ministry of Health Serbia.

“Based on previous, relatively few, studies that have shown that the use of the third dose or supplement of the covid-19 vaccine leads to increase in the immune response, the Committee of Experts on Immunization recommends the administration of a third dose, that is, an additional dose of the coronavirus vaccine in all vaccinated individuals, at least six months after the second dose“regardless of the type of vaccine they have previously received,” the Commission said in a statement, citing a response from the RES EA from Belgrade.

In other words, it is suggested that the third dose be given with a vaccine prepared by the mRNA method (Pfizer-Moderna) regardless from the type of vaccine given in the first two doses.

Experts suggest giving priority for the administration of the third dose “to persons with immunodeficiency and immunosuppressive conditions, recipients of bone marrow and solid organ transplants and persons undergoing dialysis. Also to people over 70 years old, people over 60 years old who live with the elderly or work in social welfare institutions, health workers and social care institutions as well as people living with immunocompromised patients “.

It is pointed out, however, that the government Public Health Committee will decide on 1st of August whether he will accept the recommendations of the experts.

It is worth mentioning, finally, how it is observed in the last days gradual increase of new cases in the country, although the daily incidence of the virus does not exceed 250. In the last 24 hours, 202 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed while three people died from complications of the disease. 323 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, ten of whom are intubated.
