Berlin is in favor of a two-state solution
Meanwhile, Chancellor Angela Merkel greeted today through her representative as “Good news” the decision to cease fire in the Middle East, while the government again supported the solution of the two states.
“The issue now is for the ceasefire to be respected so that it lasts,” said government spokesman Stephen Seibert, adding that it was equally important “to make it immediately possible to re-provide humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip.” Mr. Seibert also noted that the pursuit of a meaningful political dialogue must now continue, noting that “only a two-state political solution could resolve the causes of the conflict.” That should be the goal of all parties, he said.
