This year’s next national holiday takes place on Thursday (1) of the week. On the date is celebrated World Labor Day, which is a national holiday in Brazil.
Then on Friday, June 20, it is subject to amendment with the weekend, due to the optional point, according to the calendar published in the Federal Official Gazette (DOU).
The number of national holidays and optional points still foresees three amendments for weekends this year.
Even in the middle of the week, some services should work on a special scale.
Corpus Christi
“Body of Christ,” in Latin, Corpus Christ, is the feast instituted by the Catholic Church in 1264 by Pope Urban IV. The festivities aimed to celebrate the Eucharist – the sacrament that, according to the Catholic faith, represents the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
The celebration arrived in Brazil with the Portuguese colonizers and is celebrated since the colonial period. It involves masses, processions and, in many cities, the making of colored rugs on the streets where the procession passes.
