Corvette is spinning off into a separate brand and preparing three powerful electric cars for 2025

Car enthusiasts who understand American thoroughbred brands have long been accustomed to the fact that the Corvette line of sports cars is produced under the Chevrolet brand, which is owned by General Motors. However, the situation will change very soon, as the cult automobile brand Corvette will be separated into a separate independent brand – this was reported by the Car and Driver information publication, citing its sources. The journalists of the Western edition added that already in 2025, the automobile manufacturer will introduce the independent Corvette brand to the world, which will completely change its range of vehicles.

The fact is that Corvette was considered an ardent supporter of powerful sports cars on internal combustion engines, but you need to understand that the market is changing and in five to ten years only a few companies in developing countries will produce internal combustion engines. Accordingly, Corvette decided not to wait until their V6 and V8 sports cars are in the dustbin of history, having prepared three new electric vehicles at once, which will be presented to the world in about a year and a half to two years. It was then that the iconic brand would officially end its long history of American ICE vehicles.

The upcoming Corvette lineup will consist of three cars. The flagship of the brand will be the familiar two-door sports car, which will be delivered in a body very similar to the current generation of the company’s vehicles. This will allow the manufacturer to gently transition Corvette fans from powerful internal combustion engines to quiet electric cars with insane acceleration. The company also plans a classic sedan, which will no longer set records for acceleration dynamics, and an SUV. However, in the United States, crossovers are often also called SUVs, which means that most likely we are talking about the urban “SUV”.

The most important difference between new vehicles is that representatives of General Motors do not make any response to European developments. Instead, according to Car and Driver, the company wants to create a unique vehicle for the local market. As a result, the independent brand will have three electric cars created according to already proven ideas that are quite capable of conquering the US market, as it was previously with muscle cars and not only. The only question is whether Corvette fans who loved the sound of the engine and the feel of the ride will want to switch to electric Corvette.
