COSMOTE: 8th Panhellenic Educational Robotics Competition

For the eighth year, the Panhellenic Educational Robotics Competition is held by the Non-Profit Organization of Educational Robotics and Science WRO Hellas, with a strategic partner COSMOTE. Every year thousands of primary and secondary school students present innovative technological solutions for different sectors of society and the economy, developing STEM skills. In this year’s competition, students prepare smart technological applications for the primary sector and agricultural production. Registrations are made online.

To participate in the competition, students need to apply the basic principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), work in groups and do research, so that they can record challenges and suggest solutions. By developing skills in communication, problem solving and programming, the students of our country can contribute to the development and progress of the modern digital society and economy.

“The demand for people with technological studies and skills is constantly increasing. As OTE Group we are constantly looking for young people with technological background for the ICT projects we implement. Educational robotics is an excellent vehicle for young people to deal with technology and follow technological “COSMOTE’s support for educational robotics is a real investment in young people to create a world better for all.” said Mr. George Athanasopoulos, Chief Officer of Operations & Information Systems of OTE Group, while he added: “We are waiting with great interest to see the students’ ideas for an automated agricultural production.”

“For eight years, the students of our country have been familiar with STEM education and artificial intelligence, as is the case in other economically and technologically advanced countries, respectively. This year, the completion of the existing technological equipment in schools with the microbit will enable students to measure, collect and communicate (cloud technologies) the physical quantities, ie the information related to the utilization of their project.Special reference to the kindergartens of our country, which in a unique way will present the products of their place “As well as the production and packaging process. Despite the special conditions we all experience, we are waiting for another year to see original robotic projects, which will offer solutions for a modern and” smart “agricultural production,” said Ioannis Somalakidis. President of WRO Hellas.

Through the Panhellenic Competition of Educational Robotics, the Greek delegation that will represent our country in the 2022 World Robotics Olympiad with the theme: “My robot, my friend” will emerge. To date, the Greek teams in the World Robotics Olympics have won 8 medals and 16 distinctions.

COSMOTE as a strategic partner of WRO Hellas for the dissemination of educational robotics and STEM:

– supports educational robotics competitions, in which more than 25,000 students have participated so far,

– supports teacher information seminars with more than 7,000 participants

– has provided more than 650 packages of educational equipment to schools free of charge

– has created the first films in Greece on the subject of educational robotics, Robogirl and The Real Robokids.

Through the films, educational robotics became better known, while there was a significant increase in participation in pan-Hellenic competitions.

COSMOTE initiatives for educational robotics and STEM have benefited a total of more than 170,000 students and teachers.

They are part of the OTE Group’s sustainable development strategy for the development of digital skills and the equal participation of all in the new digital society.
