About 1,000 Russian soldiers have been surrounded by Ukrainian forces in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine, according to an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Oleksiy Arestovich said that after the unsuccessful attempt of Russian soldiers to break through the Ukrainian cordon on Thursday, the invaders found themselves surrounded near the village of Visokopilya.
Recently, the Ukrainian army has launched a counteroffensive in the Kherson region, most of which is under Moscow’s control after the Russian invasion that began on February 24.
Kherson has seen repeated anti-Russian protests in recent months, including attacks on Moscow-appointed administration officials.
